Wow Nick Roberts really sucks at video games. Me, him, and Brian just played Narutimate Hero 2 for like an hour, and I don’t think Nick won any matches at all. This leads us to conclude that Nick can’t win at any video games at all.

Well, I haven’t posted anything decent in a while, mainly because I haven’t been doing anything interesting. But oh hoh, here’s a good story. Kinda.
Went to Denny’s last night with Nick and Brian (or should I say Otakon and Ocelot) after Pat’s party. Service was horrible, but the food was so good. None of us had been there since the summer, even though I was the only one with a valid excuse for that, being in Japan for a few months. Anyway, some weird chick started talking to Brian after he came back from the bathroom, which caused her to come sit at our table for a few short spurts, then her gay friend came over and I think he was hitting on Brian. Maybe because they were dressed frighteningly similarly. Haha. Well, after we got out of there, some of their hick friends were outside and tried talking to us as we headed towards the car. Oh and the big Mexican guy called me Iron Chef. That was hilarious. Also as we were getting close to the car I heard one of them say “well obviously he wasn’t gay.” I’m assuming they were talking about me, since I just kind of ignored them and acted like I was pissed off. Maybe they gave me some kind of gay test and I passed it, being straight. There you go: just act pissed off all the time and you’re fine.
So I get home around 4:30AM. Apparently when Frank came to get me to go to Pat’s, I was in a hurry and forgot my keys. Yeah. So that of course, meant I couldn’t get into my house or my car. My first idea was to break down the door, since I did that last summer when I locked myself out on the patio. I decided that probably wouldn’t be the best idea, since it was 5AM on a weekend night, and also it was my front door, not just some back door off of a second floor patio. So, what was I gonna do? I called AAA, they don’t do locksmiths. Called my apartment complex’s emergency maitenence line, but they said that if you’re locked out, you have to call a locksmith. So that’s what I did. But how did I get a locksmith’s number that late at night?
Conveniently, the yellow pages were delivered just a few days ago. And the apartment right across the way from me hadn’t brought theirs in yet. So I of course hi-jacked that phone book and called the locksmith. It took me a few tries to find one that was open or would pick up. I got one finally that sounded like I woke a guy up. Oops. Anyway, I told him to come, gave him directions, and I was set. All I had to do was wait about 30 minutes. He was pretty close on that estimate, although it seemed so much longer. According to Nick’s car thermometer (he told me this morning on IM), it was 12 degrees F last night. I at least had the sense to wait up near my apartment’s door, since it was enlclosed by 3 walls and the wind wouldn’t hit me. I almost went near the dumpster and took a leak because I had to. I just held it though.
Finally the guy shows up, and as I thought, he just had a little bag of lockpick tools. My dad had one of these, and they’re pretty cool. I was able to pick the deadbolt of my house in St. Louis a few years back when we first got that set. Man I need to get one of those for myself. So ya, he picked the lock in literally less than 30 seconds and I was in my house. It felt so warm. That night was the first time I think I’ve actually felt my feet get cold from inside my shoes. Anyway, I had to spend 40 bucks but I figured I’d have to get into my house sometime. So I tried warming up at home, fell asleep, and it was all good. That was my little adventure for the week.
So I was first going to e-mail just Ari this. Then I decided I was gonna e-mail the whole A-Team. Then I decided I’ll just make it a blog entry and everyone will see it eventually. I even went to the effort of taking some screenshots, just so everyone can follow what I’m talking about, also so you know I’m not just making this up.
I downloaded and watched part of the 紅白歌合戦, the music show that they show in Japan on new years eve. (Seth, did you catch it? Or were you studying) It’s like a battle of the singers with guys vs. girls. Well one of the bands on there was, of course, Kishidan, because they are awesome. 2 really important and incredible revelations that must be spoken of though:
1) Ari will be happy to know, that during the performance, they had all these random backup dancers running around the background, including the usual gay-esque American flag wearing guys with the cutoffs on, some bousouzoku, angels, a chick in a bathtub, etc. But the best? 6 Pe Yonjun look-alikes. Oh man it was hilarious.
2) the main singer guy, I think his full name is Ayano Kouji, nicknamed Celonious or something, but you may know him as Dragon Voice. right in the middle of singing One Night Carnival, pauses and whips off the front part of his hair. We knew it was too good to be true. His hair is real, except for the front part (the Ghostbusters cartoon Egon-looking pointy thing). And even better: he has a receding hairline/going bald, so it just looks really weird. I don’t think that anyone in Japan knew about this, and I was pretty surprised (ショック!).
Ah well, they’re still so badass though.
So I ordered phone service and DSL from SBC about 2 weeks ago. No DSL yet, so I called to see what was going on. Turns out that my apartment isn’t eligible for DSL since there are too many people nearby with it or something. SBC, of course, didn’t have the decency to contact me and tell me that I wasn’t going to be able to get it. yarg. So I got this local phone line now for nothing, and there was a $50 setup fee, which they won’t give me back. I hate you SBC.
Called Insight to order cable internet. They’ve got a deal so it will be cheaper than I expected. I should have just gone with them in the first place and gotten some TV. Anyways, I guess everything will be OK, except it’s going to take a week for them to come and install the internet for me. Pain in the butt, especially since the wireless I was stealing from a neighbor started going out last night. I guess I’ll be at the library more this week…
Just when I started having fun, seeing all my friends in Bloomington and stuff, classes had to come and ruin it. First day of school today. Actually it wasn’t *that* bad, but it’s the principle of the thing. I went to Parking Ops this morning (after going to RPS by mistake), to get an E parking permit to compliment my god-like DP that I get to use for IUSTV. I get to park pretty much anywhere, even the Reserved spaces. So anyways, I didn’t even think that there would be a line, but there was: that meant I was about 15 minutes late to my first class of the semester. Oops! What am I, in Japan or something? haha
After that class and G202 after it, I had a nice break at home. Went to dinner with Seamus, Sam, and Elliot at Read. Oh man I forgot how horrible dorm food is. I had this thing that was made of fake eggs and mashed potatoes called a fritia. Tasted like plastic. The best part of being there was running into JIMMY JAMES! Here’s how our quick convo went:
Me: Heeeeeeeeeey! How’s it going?
JJ: Hmmmmmm, NOT very well actually.
Me: It’s been a while!
JJ: Yes, that was good.
Me: What? No way, whatt’re you talking about?
JJ: (mumbling something)
He needs to be nicer. Not sure why he hates me so much. Oh wait, I’m friends with Frank, haha! After that, a really short guitar class, then IUSTV stuff at the office. That was about it.
