Well it’s about 1PM, and I just got up. I love getting to catch up on sleep on the weekends. I almost forgot to write this post yesterday:

I’ve been studying Japanese for long enough now, and have seen enough Americans studying Japanese, to really have this annoy me. Now, my Japanese isn’t super great or anything, and I understand that there are people with different levels of the language. Somewhere, (I don’t think it’s taught in classes) a bunch of these kids learned ええぇぇぇと (“eeeeto”, Japanese version of “ummmm”) and started using it like there’s no tomorrow. It’s OK to try and make your Japanese more natural of course, but DON’T USE EEEEEEEETO IF YOUR JAPANESE SUCKS! Some people seriously put this between every word, and they sound like frickin morons (I’m actually going to be considerate and not name names). Stuffing your head into a book isn’t going to make your pronunciation better, and man they need to work on that.

I’m actually in a really good mood right now, but just thought I’d write that since it bugged me so much (listening to people) yesterday.

Had to happen sometime

Well today at the high school was busy as ever. Why do I keep volunteering myself to go to more classes and help? I even went to 2 parents (I should say mothers) classes today. Yep, the moms come and learn english too.

For the first time all semester, I have a lot of school work to do tonight. It’s a miracle. And oh man I’m so tired I don’t want to do any of it. So to waste time I’m going to sit here and watch Matthew Minami. Blah work.

Nothing of importance

Well the last few days have been fairly boring. People around me have a lot more drama in their lives than I do, which is good for the most part. Being a つまらないやつ has it’s advantages indeed.

On Sunday, I thought I had the whole day planned out. I was completely wrong. Ended up not going to the Tokyo Motor Show, since Bryan went first and c-mailed me saying it was mostly cars for the handicapped and stuff. Not the race car and booth girl festa that we were expecting. So instead, Ari and I found a Chinese buffet in the Plena mall next to the station. Reminded me of Chinese Buffet back in B-town, but more expensive (1200 yen). Eventually, we went to this department store in Kemigawahama, and boy did they have some weekend sales (割引). I ended up buying the Kamen Rider Lengel belt for half off, and Ari got a Tokima watch on clearance. Good sale for dorks.

Rented the Cutie Honey movie and watched it. It’s a goofy movie, definitely worth seeing. It’s like a parody of itself and the original anime (which I’ve never seen much of). The movie is honestly so stupid you can’t take it seriously. Ah well.

Tuesday (tonight) was pretty uneventful. My life is a lot more boring than others, which like I said, can be good. I’m not at liberty to talk about what people are going through, but it’s a tough situation. Anyways, now I have to go to sleep and wake up tomorrow around 5 or 6AM to go to my Field Placement at the high school. If this weren’t my first time back in 3 weeks (because of the Nagano Trip and then a national holiday), I would totally call in sick. It’s not bad once I get there, but it’s a pain in the butt up until that.

Bandai Museum

This is where I went today, with Mikey and Ari. For a dork like me, it was awesome. Had the “Character World” exhibition, where they had models and cases full of toys from all the Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Mazinger robot, and Super Sentai shows. Oh man it was awesome. Actually since it’s Bandai’s museum, the main thing they had on display was toys (as opposed to real props, etc), but it was still great. They had the 1:1 scale, die-cast metal Faiz Gear, which was cool to see. You could buy it for 31300 yen ($300) if you really wanted it, but I definitely passed. If I was a billionaire, I would have picked up a few though. Also, at the Sentai part of the display, where they had clips and toys from every Sentai (Power Ranger) show since the 70’s, it was interesting to see a shelf of robot toys where I had every single one of back home. Embarrassing and awesome at the same time. Kinda.

Afterwards, explored the Matsudo area with Ari and Mikey. A lot more to do there than I would have thought. Like Funabashi city, it’s pretty generic of Japanese cities, but it was cool for a change of pace. Had some awesome miso ramen, found a cheap arcade, and met up with Elida (who lives there). She’s been here for a few months but we never got around to meeting up.

That was my day, pretty laid back and fun. Bandai Museum is awesome. Tomorrow I might be going to the Tokyo Motor Show (car convention) at Makuhari Messe.

A quick non-Japan note: IUSTV

IUSTV seems to be popping into my head every once in a while. In a way, I think more than classes or school, I am looking forward to going back to IU to work at IUSTV (student TV organization). I’ve been away from it for some time now, but I’m really looking forward to getting back in and starting up a new show or two. I’ll also get back to do some work on Hoosier Date?, our dating show, to make it even better. Honestly, it took me a long time to figure out how to “manage” stuff there right. I mean, I had almost an entire semester in charge of a team that pretty much did nothing and failed. With the new Programming Team, I was able to get the dating show started, and I actually had something to show for my work. I want to get even more TV shows made this spring, which means I’m going to have to kick the entire team into gear. I have a feeling that a bunch of people are going to quit once I get started again. Once I weed out the stragglers, and get some new staff who are really there to get stuff done, it will be awesome (and a lot of fun).

And on that note, would you guys kindly post (under comments here) what kinds of TV shows you think would be good for a student TV station? Please? Note that “student” means fairly low budget, and something that students would want to watch. I’ve got a bunch of ideas in my head, and need to sort them out. Also, my own odd taste and that I’ve seen so much strange Japanese TV lately probably puts me a bit out of sync with what would really be popular…

New pics! 夜露死苦!

Well, although I have my history midterm paper due tomorrow, I decided to waste my entire evening doing other stuff. Here’s a wrapup of what I did:

1) added a bunch of new pictures (including Nagano) to the pictures page

2) made a claw out of aluminum foil for my left hand (for the belated IES Halloween Party tomorrow night)

3) read some of the first volume of GTO manga

4) did laundry

Oh, but it’s OK. My History of Tokyo midterm paper isn’t as bad as it may sound. In fact, it’s ridiculously easy. I have to write a 2 page (double spaced) OPINION paper on why some people consider history to be useless. Oh man, let the BSing begin. Hope you enjoy the new pictures I put up. It wouldn’t have taken so long if I hadn’t been a moron and not realized that I messed up the caps in some of my HTML code (although I use Dreamweaver for the bulk of it). Ah well, it all works now…
